The Research and Development Division of the JSP Group is working to develop sustainable new products and create new businesses with the aim of becoming a company that is needed by society, based on material foaming technology that has the features of resource saving and energy saving and polymer polymerization technology that holds unlimited possibilities. In an environment that encourages research and development without fear of failure, we value the ideas and initiative of young researchers, and all of our researchers work together to take on research challenges on a daily basis.

Structure of R&D
The Research and Development Division is mainly based in Kanuma, near Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, and is composed of Research Units 1 through 4 and the Intellectual Property Unit.
Each research unit conducts research and development to develop new products or high value-added products based on plastic foaming technology (extrusion foaming technology, bead foaming technology, etc.) and polymer polymerization technology (suspension polymerization technology, etc.) which are supported by intellectual property rights, for various fields such as food, home appliances, automobiles, and construction. We are promoting R&D effectively by collaborating with each unit, other departments, and group companies in Japan and overseas, as well as by actively co-creating with external parties.

Each unit is composed of a research group that conducts R&D utilizing sophisticated core technologies such as foaming, blending, compounding, crystal control, and radical polymerization technologies, an analytical group that specializes in chemical analysis, and an intellectual property group that specializes in intellectual property management.
